In addition to the Stormwater Congress, now a permanent feature of WEFTEC, there will be numerous meetings relevant to the stormwater industry held in conjunction with WEFTEC. The National Stormwater Testing and Evaluation for Products and Practices (STEPP) Initiative, a program under WEFs Stormwater Institute, is re-launching this fall with a meeting at WEFTEC at 8:45 on Tuesday, October 2 in Room 283-285. The STEPP Initiative was established in 2012 to develop a national testing program, in part as a response to the end of the EPAs Environmental Technology Validation (ETV) program. STEPP lost some momentum after it published the 2016 report “Framework for a National Testing and Evaluation Program Based Upon the National Stormwater Testing and Evaluation for Products and Practices (STEPP) Initiative” but it has picked up steam in 2018 and will provide an update at WEFTEC.
The Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) has had a Stormwater BMP Performance Evaluation Team working for the past two years on developing tools to help users select and appropriate stormwater BMP. The team has produced 4 short videos that explain how to use the tool. These will be introduced on Tuesday, October 2 at 3 pm in the Stormwater Pavilion.
The Stormwater Equipment Manufacturer’s Association (SWEMA) will be hosting a Breakfast Forum on the Tuesday morning. The forum will feature a panel discussion focused on manufactured treatment devices. It will address various challenges like performance evaluation, experience with testing and monitoring, design and permitting challenges, the need for additional innovation, what role MTDs may play in a green infrastructure design. This is an invitation-only event, those interested in attending the Forum should contact Laurie Honningford, [email protected].
Greg Williams, Managing Director of GHL, will be present at all these events. He will be presenting at a couple of them so he will be easy to find. Feel free to approach him, he is always ready to talk stormwater or testing.
